What the Writer Says…
TS20 is the endorsement code for failing to comply with double white lines. The offence relates to the road markings set out in the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002. Double white lines where the nearest line to you is solid mean you must not cross or straddle them unless specific exemptions apply.
The exemptions are narrow. You may cross double white lines to enter premises or a side road, to pass a stationary vehicle, to overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle moving at 10mph or less, or when directed by a police officer. Outside these situations, crossing or straddling the lines is an offence.
