Free MOT, Tax & Insurance Reminders
Set free email reminders for available MOT and tax dates, plus an optional insurance renewal date you add. The service supports cars, vans and motorbikes where official dates are available.

What The Reminder Service Does
- MOT reminders - based on the available DVSA expiry date
- Tax reminders - based on the available DVLA due date
- Insurance reminders - based on the renewal date you add
- Advance email prompts - scheduled around four weeks and one week before enabled dates

How Reminder Dates Are Set
The MOT and tax dates come from official vehicle records where they are available. The insurance date is added by you, because insurers do not publish a public renewal record by registration number.
You need to verify your email before reminders become active. After that, My Garage keeps your saved vehicles and reminder choices together, so you can review dates, change an insurance renewal date or switch individual reminders off.
Reminder emails are a back-up prompt. Check your own policy documents, MOT certificate and GOV.UK records if a date looks wrong or appears to have changed.
What Could Happen If A Date Is Missed?
The exact outcome depends on the situation, but these are the common risks a reminder helps you avoid.
- MOT expiry - Driving without a valid MOT may be illegal, except in limited circumstances. An advance reminder gives you time to book a test.
- Vehicle tax expiry - Keeping or using an untaxed vehicle on a public road could lead to enforcement action. A reminder prompts you to check the due date and renew in time.
- Insurance renewal missed - Driving without valid insurance is illegal and could lead to penalties. A reminder gives you time to check your policy and arrange cover.

What Our Expert Says
A reminder works best as a second check, not the only record you rely on. MOT and tax dates can change after a new test or vehicle update, while an insurance renewal date comes from your own policy documents. Keep those records and check My Garage if a date looks wrong.Co-Founder, Clean Green Cars
