Cookie Categories
- Strictly necessary. These support security, save your cookie choice and provide features you request, including passwordless My Garage access. They do not require consent.
- Analytics. These help us understand visits and improve pages and tools. Google Analytics and PostHog use cookies. PostHog also records session replays of public pages, described under Website Usage Analytics below.
- Marketing. These measure advertising and campaign performance. Google Ads, Google Tag Manager and enabled Meta, TikTok and Microsoft advertising measurement remain blocked unless you allow marketing.

Motor Quote Return Journey
Effective 18 August 2026
When you select a motor quote button or link, a first-party functional cookie called cgc_quote_journey stores an opaque identifier for up to 30 days. The cookie does not contain your registration number or quote answers. It lets this site retrieve the motor product and any registration entered on Clean Green Cars, then show relevant free vehicle tools when you return.
Site promotions may appear as banners, pop-ups or inline adverts. Dismissing a campaign sets a functional cgc_promo_d_ cookie for that campaign and edition, for the configured period of up to 180 days. Session storage called cgc_promotion_seen limits selected promotions to once per browser tab session. These preferences do not identify you by name.
If you dismiss the welcome-back message, cgc_quote_journey_dismissed remembers that choice. Starting another motor quote replaces the earlier journey. Quote information entered on a provider website is handled by that provider under its own privacy information.
Website Usage Analytics
With your analytics cookie consent, PostHog (EU-hosted) records clicks, scrolling, typing and session replays on public website pages, and journey analytics, to help improve usability. Page text and images, and what you type into forms on those pages, including vehicle registration numbers and any contact details you enter, are visible in replays. Passwords are never recorded, and card details are entered in a secure payment frame that is not recorded. My Garage and account pages are excluded. PostHog receives technical information such as device and browser information and the page address. Registration numbers typed into vehicle lookup and quote boxes are logged by our site so we can match them to replays.
PostHog cookies (names beginning ph_) last up to one year. You can withdraw analytics consent using Cookie settings. See PostHog's privacy policy for how PostHog processes this information.
Promotion And Returning Offer Measurement
When analytics cookies are allowed, quote-page interactions, subsequent page visits, banner eligibility, views, clicks, dismissals, destination visits, lookup outcomes and onward quote-form submissions or quote-link selections are measured to understand which promotions and returning offers are useful. Campaign views and clicks use the same consent choices and retention. Without a saved quote journey, a campaign reference identifies a display rather than a person across the site. An optional cgc_return_attribution cookie links a clicked offer to a GoShorty quote handoff on its destination page for up to 24 hours. Pseudonymous journey references connect these events with timestamps, source pages, offer wording, coarse browser/device and viewport information, referring page or site, and whether a registration was available. Query strings, raw cookie tokens and raw registrations are excluded. Measurement records are kept for 90 days and do not contain registrations, names, email addresses or IP addresses. A form submission does not confirm that a quote was returned or insurance purchased. Analytics can be switched off using Cookie Settings.
