What the Writer Says…
TS30 is the endorsement code for failing to comply with a stop sign. Like TS10, it falls under Section 36 of the Road Traffic Act 1988. A stop sign requires you to come to a complete standstill at the white stop line before proceeding. Rolling through or slowing without fully stopping counts as an offence.
Stop signs are used at junctions where visibility is restricted or where the junction has a history of collisions. They are less common than give way signs - there are far fewer stop signs than give way signs across the UK road network. This means many drivers encounter them infrequently, which can lead to a momentary lapse at an unfamiliar junction.
