Is this the same as an HPI check?
Whilst it’s not an HPI check, it provides similar information: outstanding finance, stolen and insurance write-off records, plus mileage, keepers, plate changes and ex-taxi history. HPI Check is a separate company’s product and we are not affiliated with it. Data sources may include Experian, CarGuide, DVLA and DVSA, and the finance, stolen and write-off checks are backed by the Experian Data Guarantee. Coverage and features differ between providers, so compare what each report includes.
Do I need an account to buy a report?
No. If the email is new, you can buy as a guest and receive the order details and secure report link by email. The email includes an invitation to activate My Garage. If the email is already linked to a Garage, a passwordless code is entered inside checkout.
Which data sources does the Premium Vehicle History Report use?
The £9.79 report uses Experian vehicle-history checks and CarGuide taxi/private-hire checks, plus available DVSA and DVLA records. One Auto API provides the technical connection to Experian and CarGuide. Valuation, previous adverts and salvage photograph links are optional add-ons, which use further specialist data suppliers.
How quickly will I receive my report?
Once payment is successful and the vehicle-data checks have completed, your report is available immediately on screen. From the report page you can download a PDF or create a secure share link. We also send an order confirmation email followed by a report-ready email with a secure link. Existing Garage customers can retrieve the report from their account.
What happens if my report finds an issue?
The report highlights the affected check and shows the returned detail. A buyer can then ask the seller for evidence, seek an independent inspection or decide not to continue.
Can I share my Premium Vehicle History Report?
Yes. Create a secure link from the report in My Garage, copy it for the person who needs it and revoke it at any time. A permission-restricted PDF can also be downloaded without an opening password.
Will my Premium Vehicle History Report be saved?
Yes. Existing customers can retrieve it from My Garage. New customers receive the order details and secure report link by email and can activate My Garage from that email to retrieve the report later.
How do I check a vehicle's full history?
Enter the UK registration, confirm the vehicle, review the price and terms, then complete the checkout.
Can the Premium Vehicle History Report identify hidden problems?
It may reveal recorded finance, stolen, insurance write-off or mileage information that is not apparent during a test drive. It cannot reveal every current mechanical problem.
How long are salvage photographs available?
Salvage photograph links are an optional add-on. If an existing report includes these links, they are available for 30 days from the report purchase date. View them within that period because the source links will expire.
Is the Premium Vehicle History Report free?
No. The price shown for one report is £9.79. CGC's existing MOT and tax tools remain free.
What is the best way to check a used van?
Use a history report alongside the vehicle's documents, a physical inspection, a test drive and independent professional help where appropriate.
