About UsClean Green Cars' aim is simple: to provide clear, easily understood advice about choosing and using cars in a more environmentally considered way. The advantages of doing a little research into the green credentials of your next car are becoming ever greater, as the government continues to increase the benefits of driving lower CO2 models, and penalise the cars with the biggest CO2 outputs. If you're a company car user, our calculator will show you just how much you can save by running a greener model - it's often more than you'd think. But you'll save if you're a private buyer too, with better fuel consumption, lower Vehicle Excise Duty rates and if you live in London, the potential for exemption from the congestion charge. Buying greener saves money as well as salving your conscience. But, Clean Green Cars is not here to blindly recommend the cars producing the lowest CO2 - people have different needs, whether it's for a city car or a seven-seat off-roader. Some of these vehicles are greener than others, and we'll tell you which. We're also seeing the beginnings of real revolution in car design with the arrival of pure electric cars from mainstream manufacturers like Mitsubishi, Renault and Nissan, as well as so-called extended-range hybrids, like Vauxhall's Ampera. Further off, the promise of fuel-cell models from Honda, Mercedes and Vauxhall is there, as is the controversial issue of biofuels. All of which means that choosing a new car is getting more complicated. The need for advice on the car to suit you is greater than ever - and we're here to help. We aim to provide clear-headed, unbiased reviews of all these new models, and how green they are. Our news stories will keep you abreast of this rapidly-changing world, not only in terms of what the government is doing but also how the car manufacturers and the energy companies are tackling the issues. We also throw a critical spotlight on the issues being debated, and expose the frequent flaws in the legislation intended to clean up motoring. For example, Clean Green Cars is highlighting the anomaly that manufacturers of large cars will find it much easier to meet the EU's CO2 emission targets than the makers of small cars. That's unhelpful to the environment, and unhelpful to those manufacturers who are already working to make more efficient small cars. We hope you find Clean Green Cars useful and enjoyable. Our readers are a big part of this site, so please give us your views on the issues. We want all our visitors to benefit from the views and experiences of the whole Clean Green Cars community.
