As 2017 is just around the corner, what fleet cars should businesses be considering? Cheapfleet.co.uk, the car fleet insurance comparison site look at a range of new cars hitting the market that will offer fuel economy, comfort, stylish looks and practicality.

The five following cars should tick every box.

Audi A4

The Audi A4 is one of those cars that has been doing what it has been doing for many years. Known for its comfort and space in every area and impressive boot space it is a car that can be relied on every way.

As with all manufacturers, Audi have improved the economy of this model with the 2.0-litre diesel being the best option as it returns an impressive 73mpg and is low on road tax due to the low Co2 emissions. There are, of course, both petrol and diesel engines available to suit all requirements.

The Audi A4 has been refined yet again and the drive is smooth yet they still choose to retain the understated dashboard and controls in true Audi fashion. The driver benefits from ultimate comfort behind the wheel and with plenty of space in the rear, it will be easy to carry several passengers at the same time.

Ford Focus

The new Ford Focus is proven to be a car that offers reliability, style and comfort thanks to Ford’s clever designers. It has all the fleet car essentials and the Titanium Navigator model comes with five of the 10 options fitted as standard. It also comes with the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, this can be purchased with a benefit-in-kind payment of just under £80 per month, making it the ideal company car.

Not only is the car spacious inside, it has everything that a fleet car could need – parking assistance, Bluetooth connectivity, lane departure warning and cruise control as well as many other features. Certain models can return 70+mpg which makes this a great vehicle for long distance driving or even shorter journeys. There is ample space all round and a generous boot and so the driver and any passengers will be able to travel in complete comfort.

Ford Mondeo

Ford have really upped their game when it comes to the Mondeo as it has taken on a beautifully striking appearance and increased in size as a result of the changes.

This has always been known as a fleet car as it is commonly seen on motorways all over the country but there is a reason for this. It offers reliability, comfort and class and more importantly it is now offering excellent fuel economy. There are petrol and diesel engines available, ranging from the 1.0 EcoBoost engine to the 2.0-litre offering. However, fuel economy, as mentioned, is impressive with specific engines having the ability to return around 79mpg making it ideal for both short and long journeys.

As with previous Mondeo models, there is a huge amount of space on offer. The driver can benefit from a wide range of features such as sat nav, lane control and cruise control while the passengers will have plenty of leg room in the rear. The boot, as expected is large and with low Co2 emissions, tax is low for a car of this size.

Volkswagen Golf

The original, trusted hatchback continues to go from strength to strength as the German manufacturer has turned the car into a hatchback with class and ultimate refinement. The Golf is built extremely well and the quality of the interior should not be underestimated. The driver can benefit from many different features which are of course, is dependent on the model chosen.

Unlike previous models, the latest model has more space and comfort and that is great for drivers and passengers alike. It seems as though almost every manufacturer is now aiming to improve the economy of their vehicles and so, specific variants of the Golf have the ability to return 79mpg which is an impressive figure. Low emissions will ensure that tax is low and the deep boot offers ample space for transporting goods.

Skoda Octavia

The Skoda Octavia is a car that goes about its business quietly but it looks great and is built extremely well inside. It can comfortably handle five passengers as well as any luggage making it the perfect fleet car.

The manufacturer has done well to equip every model with useful features as standard. The Octavia S comes with a touchscreen infotainment system and a DAB radio as well as bluetooth connectivity.

Skoda offer superb reliability and comfort and good fuel economy although their figures of 45mpg-72mpg depending on the model, is slightly lower than the other vehicles on offer. However, this is a car that will not let you down while getting you around in comfort and style while the low running costs make this car a real attractive prospect.
