Volvo launches sub-120g/km S80 and V70 models

Volvo has launched the world's first sub-120g/km CO2 large premium executive models in the S80 and V70. The DRIVe versions both emit just 119g/km CO2 putting them in tax band C, costing drivers just £35 a year in road tax.

Both models are powered by Volvo's 109bhp 1.6-litre diesel engine. The manufacturer claims it will return 62.8mpg which means both cars get a theoretical range of 1100 miles.

Volvo has also employed intelligent battery recharging, which only allows the alternator to charge the battery when the engine is at low load, to help lower fuel consumption and emissions.
